The stock market witnessed heavy fluctuations on the first day of the week. Initially, there was heavy buying and the market rose, but there was heavy selling at the high end, due to which the market crashed. At the end of the trading session, the Sensex of the Mumbai Stock Exchange fell by 450 points to close at 78,248. The Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange fell by 168 points to close at 23,644.
