કેન્દ્ર સરકારે સોનાની આયાત ડ્યૂટી 15 ટકાથી ઘટાડીને 6 ટકા કરી છે, જે પછી ગોલ્ડની આયાત વધીને આવી છે. પહેલા દાણચોરીથી ગોલ્ડ આયાત થતું હતું હવે ડ્યૂટી ઘટી છે જેથી સત્તાવાર ગોલ્ડની આયાત થઈ છે, જે પણ એક કારણ ગણી શકાય.
વાણિજ્ય વિભાગે જાહેર કરેલ આંકડા અનુસાર સોનાની આયાત બમણી વધી છે અને તે વધીને 10 અબજ ડૉલરની નવી ઊંચાઈએ પહોંચી ગઈ છે. નવરાત્રિ અને દિવાળીના તહેવારો આવી રહ્યા હોવાથી સોનાની આયાત વધી હોવાનું બીજુ કારણ રજૂ કરાઈ રહ્યું છે.
જો કે સોનાના ભાવ પણ લાઈફ ટાઈમ હાઈ પર ચાલી રહ્યા છે, તેમ છતાં સોનાની ડિમાન્ડ વધી છે.

The central government has reduced gold import duty from 15 percent to 6 percent, after which gold imports have increased. Earlier gold was imported through smuggling but now the duty has come down so that official gold has been imported which can also be considered as a reason.
Gold imports have doubled to a new high of $10 billion, according to figures released by the Commerce Department.
As Navratri and Diwali festivals are coming, another reason is being presented for the increased import of gold.
Although gold prices are also running at lifetime highs, demand for gold has increased.
