Stock market gains for fifth day, but need to be cautious
The Indian stock market continued to gain for the fifth consecutive day. Fresh buying continued in stocks of all sectors except FMCG. Bank stocks were particularly buying heavily and the Bank Nifty crossed the 55,000 level and closed at a record high. The Mumbai Stock Exchange’s Sensex rose 855 points to close at 79,408. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty index rose 273 points to close at 24,125.
